The NBA lottery loves hometown kids

June 26th, 2008 View Comments

Now that I have your attention, let’s think about the following examples. 2003 the Cleveland Cavaliers win the draft lottery, the same year Lebron James is a senior in high school and eligible for the NBA draft. What happens is the Cavs pick the Akron, OH native with the first pick in the draft.

Fast forward to 2008 the Chicago Bulls win the draft lottery (less than 2% chance), the same year Derrick Rose is eligible for the NBA draft. What will happen is that the Bulls pick the Chicago, IL native with the first pick in the draft. Do you see the pattern?

I went to grammar school with Derrick Rose (although he was in 3rd when I was in 8th, and we never met).

He’s kind of an asshole in public. He tries to play the shy role, but I doubt that he’s sheepish at all. He doesn’t speak to any fans when he sees them- unless they are white.

But it’s good to see somebody from my elementary school make it. I hope that Chicago DOES NOT pick him for two reasons:

    1) Because they need a big man (other than lame ass Drew Gooden) that can hoop. We got enough average sized guards.

    2) This is not a good environment for hometown heroes. The same cats he knew from around the way might bait him into trouble.

I want Mike Beasley instead (who shares the same last name with our elementary school coincidentally)

The Bulls weren’t listening to a damn thing I said. They went with D-Rose anyway.

    I wish him the best.
