Steve Stoute on MSNBC: Chris Brown

April 2nd, 2009 § 2 comments

What more can I say about Steve Stoute? The only man I respect more as a connector is William “Worldwide” Wesley. Scandals are ok for a brand. Yes I said it. However, Chris Brown vs Kober Bryant is not fair. Kobe was involved in a lot of speculation. I’m not one to say if rape or domestic violence is worse, however I will say that any incident involving two celebrities does not turn out well for one of the parties. Chris Brown needs a quality mentor and world service. I’m talking about going to a slumdog village in Mumbai and spending time with kids that might not even know who he is. Stoute and Translation may not be the people for this job. I believe an agency full of young people that understand the new ‘face’ of celebrity should step in and add some much needed repositioning to the Chris Brown brand. Maybe LRMR or another new face can shop their ideas.

It may not even matter. I don’t think he will be really able to recover fully from this. It was totally mishandled from the beginning, and he should have did the Kobe thing and owned up publicly w/ Rihanna, especially since they tried to stick together. However, he does need a fresh team with new ideas on this though, and the old PR model already isn’t working; this is why he might not recover. He needs at least a year or two of charitable endeavors, and re-branding.

Chris Brown makes the best hip-hop and r&b music today. i have a full collection of all the albums of Chris Brown in my home. It is too bad that his relationship with Rihanna did not work out well.
