Google has launched a new effort to send window decals to over 100,000 local businesses in the U.S. that have been the most sought out and researched on Google.com and Google Maps.
Google has done their due diligence. Check below:
We’ve identified over 100,000 businesses in the U.S. as “Favorite Places on Google” based on Google users’ interaction with local business listings. Each business is receiving a window decal with a unique QR code that you scan with your phone to read reviews, star the business as your own favorite and more.
To be honest, this is the reason(in the Internet age) that once you have an idea you must quickly act on it. A colleague and I have been working on a project that will leverage QR (Quick Response) codes. I can’t speak on the details now, but just wait and see.

I have been trying to sell ad campaigns involving QR codes for over five years. A lot of people in the US have been scratching their heads about it and it’s been huge in Japan for sometime now. Maybe with Google’s weight behind it, people will see the value it adds to print and overall customer engagements. Even though we’re playing catch up to the rest of the world, I believe in the QR experience too.
I agree with the potential of QR codes in the U.S. While Japan and other markets have had success, the states have had a lot of trouble embracing the technology. I look to the Editoras case as being a shining global example of the possibilities of QR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PG4thXVM2qk Just an example of the numerous possibilities.
