#JordanTrial: Exhibit A Response from @Buie

January 2nd, 2010 § 1 comment § permalink

Jordan Brand reply from Jamil Buie on Vimeo.

Jamil Buie is an advertising account guy that ‘gets it’. He merges his creativity with a knack for client and brand management.

My response:

I’m just now seeing this. smh Good reply. To address your final comment, I think the Jordan Brand will have a tough time bringing on a white athlete. They could use one, for sure. They could also use a few more women–but that is another story. The ‘Great White Hope’ comes to mind with whichever white athlete Jordan signs. I personally think a mixed race entertainer would be the next best signing for Team Jordan. More on that in #ExhibitC. Finally, the Jordan brand equity has reached its zenith imo in terms of being a performance brand. Nothing but downward motion seems to be on the horizon. We will see. #ExhibitB coming soon.

#JordanTrial: The Case of Jordan Brand vs _______ | Exhibit A

December 19th, 2009 § 6 comments § permalink

The evidence we present to you today touches on a few areas. We argue the following:
*Every black male youth does not buy Jordan
*Altered Jordan Brand retro sneakers are a virus to the Jordan DNA
*White athletes should be a part of Jordan Brand
*Jordan Brand is to be ‘seen’ and not ‘worn’

Now on to our direct evidence

Is Jay-Z Suffering The Same Fate As GM? Opposing Marketing Perspectives On The State of Hova’s Conquest

September 18th, 2009 § 0 comments § permalink

This written piece by me and colleague Richie Cruz was finished the day before 9/11. Does it need more exposure? Yes. Do I stick to my argument? Yes. Did Richie bring some heat with his argument? Yes.

However, I believe I made an appeal based on logic and emotion. I will stay away from Jay-Z’s ethos due to the complexities of the issue.

I would love to know how this blog’s audience feels about the issue. First, a little about the authors.

A little about the writers:
Richie Cruz is a Digital Strategist at AgencyNet, an award-winning digital marketing agency in NYC, and an emerging thought leader with a special interest in Youth, Urban, and Multicultural consumers. He is also the author of http://www.suitsiswatching.com/ a blog focused on the marriage of culture and marketing, and has provided lifestyle marketing consultation services for the likes of Lenovo and AXE.

Kenji Summers is a digital strategist at OMD NY. Prior to OMD he worked at Mediaedge:cia under the Group M umbrella. In addition to time spent in the office, Kenji is an AdColor Awards Steering Committee, Branding Committee and PR Committee Member; One Club Events Committee Member; One Club-Adversity New Media Committee Chair; and author of a blog titled The Future is Bright . With less than 3 years of agency experience Kenji brings his fresh perspective as a proud member of the millennial generation.

I am proud to introduce you to a social lifestyle group that goes by the name of Millennial Moguls. This has been months–maybe years–in the making. One of the initial projects is to offer content relevant to the innovator & influencer Millennial audience, so please watch the below video. A Day in the Life episode 1 features Nick Arrington of New York via Virginia. I look forward to sharing more of the activities that the brand has planned for the future. Stay tuned.

ADCOLOR 09 Award Spot

June 15th, 2009 § 1 comment § permalink

A few months ago I was fortunate enough to be asked to do the brief for the 2009 ADCOLOR Awards. I’ve been around the ‘magic’ that is ADCOLOR, thus taking on a roll of account planner was a ‘no brainer’. 2009 marks the third year of the awards, and is the first year it will be held at a location outside of the east coast. The award show has reached a critical mass and the client wanted to create a call to action while taking into consideration the emotion that is felt by partaking in the award show. Below is my favorite spot that was created.

Keys Open Doors: Ainz

February 5th, 2009 § 1 comment § permalink

Keys open doors to a world of possibilities. In the case of Ainz from SH Collective the meaning of the items on his key chain go deeper than just what opens the door to his home. See below for his story:

I never really took a look at my key chain until Kenji asked me to give a little insight to what i carry around with me everyday.
As i look at it now i am really getting older i use to keep a whole bunch of different things on my key chain. I guess now it seems everything that i have a taste for is modern looking and clean.

The first thing that pretty much stands out is my key chain from Leeman Designs, i had a Crooks and Castles one before this and i rocked it to death.
This one i actually jacked from a friend of mine, the price points are not too crazy on them. I just took a liking to the way it was designed plus it has the clean little light on the end for when i am tipsy and struggling opening my door in the dark.

The next thing on my key chain is my jump drive, i use to loose these things like crazy until i got this one from Staples. I pretty much keep everything i need for SH Collective on this drive from beats made by client D-Dub to samples of another one of my clients Designer Ty-Juana Flores clothing.

The next thing up are my keys, i really don’t try to keep many up here because these are my personal set and my work keys have about 50 or so keys on them.
So i since i do not like to walk around with a lot of stuff in my pocket i just keep a set of 5 keys on this ring. Two are for my house those are important because my crib is like my get away from everything. I had to share everything growing up as a kid so to have my own space is very important to me. The second set is the keys to my brothers house i keep a set just in case of emergencies. The last key goes to my PO Box i had to set that up recently i did not want everyone having access to me.

Where Am I?
