More about The Stuyvesants

“The Stuyvesants” is a collaborative effort between music producer Allan Cole (Algorythm), and record collector Darien Victor Birks (Flwrpt). Both reside in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, NY. The two wanted to work together on a project where they could incorporate several of their talents, related to music and design. They wanted to do this under a moniker that would pay homage to the ’70s. The collaboration allowed them to do four major things, design, beat dig, produce amazing music, and simply have fun.

“I just needed time alone with my own thoughts. Got treasures in my mind but couldn’t open up my own vault. My talent like creativity, purity and honesty is honestly being crowded by these grown thoughts. Reality is catching up with me, taking my inner child I’m fightin for custody”- Kanye West

The bruv NSR may be one of the most charismatic, talented artists I’ve encountered in a few years. This track is a funny interpretation of Llyod Banks – Beamer, Benz or Bentley. Check back here for more from NSR. You may even catch me make a guest appearance in a video.

Jay Fresh Kicks (JFK) ft. Carl Earland – “Leave This Planet” (Official Video)

Stoner music! The stoner genre of rap music is becoming ever so more important during the volatile times we are experiencing as a society. Is it escapism music? Just something to smoke to? A marketing gimic? Well, in JFK‘s case I think it is simply great music. The rapper/producer recently was featured on MTV2‘s Sucker Freestyle and I interviewed him for The Future is Bright back in December of 2009. The song that I feature today is a loose track and was also co-directed by JFK and Jay Dexter. Expect more from the VA native in 2010.

K’Naan ft. Drake, Nikki Yanofsky & Justin Bieber – Waving Flag (Live @ Junos 2010) Video

This is an epic record. Drake‘s verse was solid. K’naan is like a young Wyclef. I expect a lot more anthems from this man, in the future. Shot out to the other Golden Child aka Justin Bieber. Lastly, Nikki Yanofsky is cute with a beautiful voice.
