Artist: Donnis
Song: Gone
Mixtape: Diary of An ATL Brave
Director: BBGUN
Label: Fools Gold
I first met Donnis at Milk Gallery in MPD in Manhattan. Dude was very personable and humble. His manager, Stadium Dan seemed to know everyone. The homie Richie Cruz made the connect. I support this dude.
I’m a year or so late but have recently become smitten with the music of the Swaggstas. My favorite song off of the project is 9.Insomniac. It represents the future of this world (Generation Y). We do not sleep because we want to be unhealthy, we don’t sleep because we strive to be successful. The entire project is a unique gem that I have listened to 10 or so times since last week. Support the Swaggstas, they have a bright future in store.
Oh, what’s the difference between a freEP and a mixtape, you ask? Well, they have a different flow and feel. A freEp I’ll play during times of reflection while mixtapes I’ll play when I want to get live. In addition, as you know, I don’t post many full-length projects on this site. However I had the great pleasure to check out two musical projects that I found to be solid. One of the artists got some post love from me earlier in the week.
Check both of them out.

Foreign Exchange is one of those special groups that will not be fully appreciated till they stop releasing music. The depth of their work is what puts them on another echelon. It is barrier bending without being unnecessary. In this case, R&B singer Darien Brockington contributed his soulful voice to a smartly composed record. Darien took this song to another level with his live performance. If you ever have the opportunity to attend a show, I highly suggest you get to the front row.
W+K NY got this list from NPR. How many of these records have you listened to? Have they inspired you to create, do, or think? In bold are my favorite 10 from the list.
This song brings tears of happiness to my face. Director Nando Costa and Portland production company Bent Image Lab went in!

After witnessing news this weekend that may ‘shake up’ my industry, I thought this song would be appropriate to post. What is special about this version of the song is that it is a ‘mash up’ of –only the– bridges from Jamiroquai’s first album, Emergency on Planet Earth. I put it together during a battle with boredom that led to a state of flow. This is the product:
