Those who know me are aware that I love to experience brands. I especially have a soft spot in my heart for Converse. This love comes from the opportunity I had to intern in their advertising department in North Andover, MA while in college. I was out in Mass during the summer of ‘07; a time when Converse was edging their way back to the forefront of the footwear and lifestyle category. They had recently began their relationship with John Varvatos and were quietly adding seasons to their fledgling apparel division. This post is a nod to the development of the aforementioned apparel– of which they were so excited about while I was doing my intern stint. Cudos to their agency of record, Anomaly, and the team that concepted and executed this idea.

Converse presented each collection in different rooms of NYC’s famously bohemian Hotel Chelsea. Visiting the homes of long-term residents Man-Lai Liang, event planner; Zaldy, clothing designer and Steve Willis, film director was a unique opportunity to to take in the creative material these artists choose to surround themselves with.
P.S. I can not wait until J. Crew and Converse take their relationship to the next level. I am patiently waiting…
I helped spread the word on Twitter and via email. I mine as well post on my blog. See what other people are saying about the sale. Today is the first day, so get there early.

Word on the streets is that Mr. West has been interning at the Gap’s corporate offices in New York. A leak stated that he has been staying at the office till 12am–some nights (sounds like my life). This is refreshing. Celebrities normally do not do their due diligence with regards to secondary ventures. Just look at the graveyard of rapper clothing lines. I look forward to Kanye’s upcoming fashion house.
Impressive video by the New York via Chicago duo. I witnessed a performance by the group a few months ago at Blender Theater in NY. They are a group to watch. Props on the video’s art direction. Enjoy the video.
The infamous Poster Boy–or a copy cat–has struck the NYC MTA subway advertisements again. PB was recently arrested but… This creative expression is what NY street art has been missing.

A temporary store created by artists, Athena Robles and Anne Stein. The store works two ways: 1) Contributors receive a store based credit to purchase something from the store in the future 2) Visitors can barter an item they bring for an item in the store.
With lack of discretionary income becoming a common theme during this economic transitional period it seems that marketers can observe that consumers want the social experience that come from buying — in this case without spending cash.
Yesterday (12/2) street art was spotted outside of the MoMA on 54th street between
5th-6th avenues. The work is either a guerrilla tactic or ambush attack on
the museum. Or it is simply a great way to get your creative piece seen
by hundreds of art connoisseurs and common pedestrians. Regardless
more info on the artist and his inspiration is on the way.
